Nutrition Services
The objective of the Training and Research Foundation Head Start Program Nutrition Services are:
- Help provide food which will help meet the child's daily nutritional needs.
- Provide an environment for Nutritional Services which will support and promote the use of feeding as an opportunity for learning.
- To help parents and family members to understand the relationship of nutrition to health.
- Every child in the Head Start Program will receive a snack/ breakfast and lunch which will provide at least 2/3 of the daily nutritional needs for children in the part-day program (3 1/2 hours) with consideration for meeting the needs of children requiring special diets.
- Children and staff eat together sharing the same menu. Food is not used as a punishment or reward; children are encouraged, but not forced to eat.
